You’ll be a valued member of an enthusiastic band of volunteers dedicated to helping our neighbors and community.

Rewards of Membership

You’ll be part of a team that, when the call comes, puts others first. Together you’ll work skillfully to resolve whatever the issue—fighting a fire, rescuing a community member, or helping with a medical emergency.

You’ll enjoy a Service Incentive Program funded by the Town when you meet minimum requirements of response and participation. $1,000 is set aside for each year the requirements are met. It takes five years to become vested.

You will be covered by accident and life insurance to protect you and your loved ones when in the line of duty.

We are happy to welcome active, new members in the Fire, EMS and Fire Police divisions and for administrative and non-responding, support functions. We offer skill training and mentoring. Minimum Yearly Requirements: (4) monthly meetings, drills, at least (10) calls, Bloodborne Airborne Pathogen Training, and department physical.

Fire

The Cornwall Volunteer Fire Company is looking for Volunteers. As a Volunteer Firefighter you are able to become a first responder to help those in your community that are in need by providing fire suppression, fire prevention, search and rescue. With training you will build and utilize your skills to help improve the dedicated services provided by our volunteers.

Emergency Medical Services, more commonly known as EMS, is a system that provides emergency medical care. Once it is activated by an incident that causes serious illness or injury, the focus of EMS is emergency medical care of the patient(s).

Fire Police

Fire Police are often some of the first to arrive in response at the scene of a fire emergency. They often find and identify incident locations and addresses in order to direct other responders to the right location. This saves time which often makes the difference in the preservation of life and property. Fire Police are also tasked with securing the scene from vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Fire Police are a specialized type of first responder that are tasked with locating & identifying incidents, clearing access to emergency scenes for other responders and diverting traffic from areas affected by fire emergencies. Fire police can also close roads and traffic lanes to secure an area of operation and detour traffic safely away from emergency areas.
