Outreach & Education

CVFD provides outreach and public education:

• Open Houses: The West Cornwall Firehouse will frequently host a public open house where children (and adults) can ‘touch a truck’, sit in the ambulance, try on a fire helmet, and become familiar with our Members and services.
• School visits: As a community exposure program with the Cornwall Consolidated School, we take a fire truck and ambulance across the street to talk about fire safety.
• Public Education: We write articles for the Chronicle and Town website about such important resources for preventing chimney fires, how to obtain a burning permit, checking your smoke detectors, etc.
• Training Courses: We frequently host CPR/AED and other training opportunities for the public. Please email EMS Captain Elizabeth Ridgway for details emscaptaincornwall@gmail.com.
• Town Events: We participate in Memorial Day ceremonies, the Annual Agricultural Fair, and other public gatherings.
