The Cornwall Volunteer Fire Department is a team of Cornwallians committed to the prevention of fires and protection of lives, property, and the environment. Our key areas of emergency response include fire protection, emergency medical service, technical rescue, and assistance to fellow townspeople.

Services

Fire

Our volunteer firefighters undergo extensive training in fire suppression, river and trail rescues, hazardous material incidents, and managing a wide variety of emergency scenes and scenarios. All responders are certified in the equipment and procedures used, and regularly participate in Cornwall and area drills to maintain proficiency. Annual recertification training keeps everyone current on new apparatus and techniques. Fire police act as traffic control for motor vehicle accidents, fire scenes, and natural disasters. Our fire chief is Will Russ.

EMS

The core of our Emergency Medical Services consists of our many EMS first responders located throughout town. They frequently get to a patient before the ambulance arrives. Certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) provide exceptional, courteous care to patients. Our capabilities include triage, patient assessment, CPR, first aid, 12-lead electrocardiogram acquisition, administration of oxygen, and more. We also provide CPR classes to the general public. We are led by Captain Elizabeth Russ.
